Snickerdoodles!
THE tastiest cookie I have ever baked! I always have to make triple batches. They are crunchy, and great for dunking. They taste best with real butter. You can ask the kiddies to help you roll them in the cinnamon
1/2 cup Butter or Margarine: Softened 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1/2 Cup shortening 1 teaspoon of baking soda
1 1/2 cups of sugar 1/4 teaspoon salt
2 Eggs 2 tablespoons sugar
2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour 2 teaspoons cinnamon
Heat oven to 400 deg.  Mix thourougly butter, shortening, 1 1/2 cups sugar and the eggs. Blend in flour, cream of tartar, soda and salt.  Shape dough by rounded teaspoonfuls into balls.
Mix 2 tablespoons sugar and the cinnamon: roll balls in mixture.  Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet.   Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until set.  Immediately remove from baking sheet.
     About 6 dozen cookies
Hint: Because of the sugar coating, these cookies tend to have the bottoms burn quickly. I use a double walled cookie sheet. If you do not have one, you can set two cookie sheets on top of each other, to mimic the double walled cookie sheet.
